Choosing a Web Host: some Thoughts
As for any other service you are considering purchasing, there are some basic aspects of a vps hosting service you will need to look into before deciding whether it is right for your needs. Has the account sufficient capacity? If yours is a small business it makes sense to share, but for higher volume you may need a dedicated server just for your business.
You should look at the record of service downtime: is the service generally known to be reliable? Go by word of mouth, and customer reviews to get an overview. Check out what support is provided: will you be able to get help when you need it? This is a vital aspect of the service, and you should be highly demanding of the customer support desk, to test it out.
Is the service easy to use, with an intuitive interface? Again, there is no point in making things hard for yourself and your staff. What are the relevant technical specifications of the site, in terms of scripting languages and analytics?
Finally, compare the cost of the hosting solution to others with similar specifications. This is important but not the most important factor.
